A landmark product, ZF's first AMT product, the AS Tronic transmission

Although the electronic control technology at that time has made great progress, the mechatronics control module is still in its infancy, which poses a great challenge to product development engineers.

ZF has made a meaningful exploration in this area. After nine years of research and development, ZF launched a landmark product in 1997: ZF AS Tronic transmission.

As the first fully automatic mechanical transmission of ZF, the AS Tronic transmission not only automates the shifting of the transmission, but also automates clutch control.

The clutch pedal was removed from the vehicle and only the accelerator pedal and brake pedal were retained. This makes the AS Tronic transmission a truly fully automatic transmission.

The transmission provides two modes of operation for the operator: automatic mode and manual mode. The manual mode allows the driver to intervene in the shifting of the transmission at any time.

The AS Tronic transmission features a double intermediate shaft design and a three-stage construction on the mechanical mechanism. The transmission consists of a front half gear sub-tank, a 3- or 4-speed main box and a rear planetary gear sub-box. The main gearbox of the transmission adopts a sliding sleeve shift (no synchronizer), and the front sub-box and the rear sub-box adopt synchronous gear shifting. This structural design has been proven to be extremely reliable, and the subsequent ZF TraXon products have continued this approach in construction.

Unlike the AVS system, which adds actuators to the manual transmission, all shift control mechanisms of the AS Tronic transmission are integrated into a shift control module – shift actuator mounted on top of the transmission.

Electronic control unit ECU included on the shift actuator, solenoid valve and shift cylinder for gear selection, shifting, stroke sensor for measuring the current position of the cylinder, various sensors for transmission input speed, transmission operating temperature and air pressure All integrated into the interior of the transmission increases system integration and reliability. The clutch control is controlled by a control module, the clutch actuator, integrated in the bottom of the transmission housing. The clutch actuator contains an actuator piston, a control solenoid valve and a non-contact stroke sensor.

Thanks to the development of electronic control technology and CAN bus communication technology, AS Tronic transmission now has a powerful electronic control unit - ECU, the software of the ECU contains the functions and a set of intelligence necessary for transmission system control and clutch control. Shift strategy management system.

The ECU continuously collects various information during the running of the vehicle and calculates the most suitable driving position of the current transmission. The powerful software function can make the transmission always work in an optimized state, and the shifting operation and the automatic control of the clutch can effectively prevent some. Incorrect operation improves the protection of components.

The AS Tronic transmission completely frees the driver from clutch handling and shifting operations, greatly improving driving comfort.

Its mechanical transmission structure has the same transmission efficiency level as the manual transmission, and the optimized driving strategy inside the transmission ECU can effectively reduce the fuel consumption of the whole vehicle.

As of 2015, ZF's AS Tronic transmissions have produced more than 1 million units. In addition to the truck sector, AS Tronic transmissions are widely used in passenger cars, construction machinery, special vehicles, cranes, oil field vehicles, and rail vehicles. AS Tronic transmission has won the reputation and trust of a large number of customers around the world for its efficiency, comfort, safety and reliability. It has left a strong history in the history of AMT transmission.

In 2015, AS Tronic transmissions withdrew from the historical arena after great success. Based on the AS Tronic transmission, ZF continues to develop a new generation of AMT automatic transmissions – TraXon.

Welding Rope

Tungsten carbide welding rope is a type of welding filler material that is used for hardfacing applications. It is made by combining tungsten carbide particles with a binding material, such as nickel or cobalt, to create a rope-like form.

Tungsten carbide is known for its exceptional hardness and wear resistance, making it ideal for applications where the welded surface needs to withstand extreme abrasion and impact. The welding rope is typically used in industries such as mining, oil and gas, construction, and agriculture.

When the tungsten carbide welding rope is heated during the welding process, the binding material melts and fuses the tungsten carbide particles to the base metal, creating a hard and durable surface. This helps to extend the lifespan of equipment and machinery by protecting it from wear and tear.

Tungsten carbide welding rope can be applied using various welding processes, including manual metal arc welding (MMA), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and flux-cored arc welding (FCAW). The choice of welding process depends on the specific application and the equipment available.

Overall, tungsten carbide welding rope offers a cost-effective solution for protecting and repairing high-wear surfaces, making it a popular choice in industries where durability and longevity are essential.
