According to a foreign media report, the Wall Street Journal quoted informed sources as saying that General Motors had commissioned the famous headhunting company Spencer Stuart to seek a long-term chief executive officer (CEO). Candidates must have a wealth of global work experience and manufacturing industry experience, in addition to the need to lead the company back to life.
GM hopes to recruit candidates who are familiar with Asian operations because General Motors aims to surpass the North American market in Asian sales next year.
An insider told the Wall Street Journal that General Motors hopes that the new CEO will work well with U.S. government agencies and prepare for the new company’s IPO.
The above mentioned that GM is willing to consider people outside the automotive industry. The winning candidate should also revive the staff morale in the event of a successful reversal of the company’s unfavorable situation.
A GM spokesman confirmed that the car company is looking for a new CEO. There is no comment. Currently it is not possible to contact Spencer Stuart’s media representatives to comment.
At the request of the GM board last week, GM’s former CEO Han Desheng resigned. GM Chairman Ed Whitacre is currently the CEO.
