Introduction Thermal spraying technology is a process technology that forms a protective coating by heating and melting the coating material into a heat source and then spraying it on the surface of the substrate with a high-speed air stream. Protective coatings made with thermal spray technology are resistant to corrosion, abrasion, high temperature and thermal insulation. In addition, the technology can repair parts that have changed in size due to wear and corrosion. Today, thermal spray technology has been widely used in machinery manufacturing, petrochemical, and aerospace equipment manufacturing.
1 Thermal spraying technology Thermal spraying technology is one of the surface modification technologies and an important part of the development and application of surface engineering. The so-called thermal spraying technology uses a heat source to heat or melt or soften the spray material. The heat source itself or an external compressed air stream is used to atomize the droplet or push the droplet to form a sprayed particle beam, which is sprayed to the preheated treatment at a certain speed. The surface of the workpiece, thus forming a method of processing a strong coating with special properties.
According to the formation principle of the thermal spray coating, the thermal spraying process can be divided into four stages: first, the stage in which the sprayed material is melted; second, the molten material is atomized; and third, the atomized sprayed material is sprayed forward Stage; fourth, the deposition stage of the spray material. When the sprayed material is melted at a high temperature and contacts the surface of the substrate at a certain speed, the material particles will have a certain kinetic energy, and the surface of the substrate will be continuously impacted and collided. At the moment when the sprayed material particles contact and collide with the substrate, the kinetic energy contained in the particles is converted into heat energy and transmitted to the substrate, thereby causing unevenness on the surface of the substrate. At this time, the particles after cooling are flatly adhered to the substrate. The surface, in turn, fills the potholes intact. The sprayed particle beam continuously impacts the surface of the substrate, repeating the process of collision-deformation-condensation-shrinkage, and the coating between the deformed particles and the surface of the substrate and between the particles and the particles are interlaced to form a coating. The basic process is shown in Figure 1.
2Class Analysis of Thermal Spray Technology 2.1 Flame Spray Technology The basic characteristics of flame spray technology are: general metal and non-metal substrates can be sprayed, and the shape and size of the substrate are usually not limited, but the small holes are currently not sprayable; A wide range of materials, metals, alloys, ceramics, composite materials can be coating materials, the surface can have a variety of properties, such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature, heat insulation, etc.: the porous structure of the coating has storage Oil lubrication and anti-friction performance, the hardness of the spray layer containing the hard phase can reach 450HB, the spray welding layer can reach 65HRC; the effect of flame spraying on the substrate is small, the deformation of the substrate is small, and the material structure does not change. Disadvantages of flame spraying technology: The bonding strength between the sprayed layer and the substrate is low, and it can not bear the alternating load and impact load; the surface preparation of the substrate is required to be high; the flame spraying process is affected by various conditions, and there is no effective detection method for the coating quality. Commonly used flame spraying methods include acetylene-oxygen flame powder coating, acetylene-oxygen flame wire spraying, and the like. The equipment for acetylene-oxygen flame powder coating can be easily applied on site for equipment maintenance.
2.2 Plasma Spraying Technology Plasma spraying technology is a technology that can strengthen the surface of the substrate or change the surface properties. The technology can prevent the surface of the substrate from abrasion, corrosion, insulation, heat insulation and radiation. Performance is enhanced. The plasma spraying technique uses a direct current drive as a heat source for spraying, and then heats a material such as a ceramic or an alloy to a molten state or a semi-molten state, and then sprays it onto the surface of the substrate by using a high-speed air stream. Plasma spraying technology is a new multi-purpose precision spraying method developed after flame spraying. It has ultra-high temperature characteristics, which is convenient for spraying high-melting materials, high speed of spraying particles, dense coating, high bonding strength, etc. advantage. In addition, since the plasma spraying technique uses an inert gas as a working gas, the plasma sprayed coating is not easily oxidized.
2.3 Principle and application of supersonic flame spraying technology Supersonic flame spraying (HVOF) is a new type of thermal spraying technology developed on the basis of ordinary flame spraying in the early 1980s. It uses hydrogen, acetylene, propylene, kerosene, etc. as fuel, uses oxygen as a combustion improver, burns in a combustion chamber or a special nozzle, and produces supersonic combustion flames at speeds of up to 2000-3000 ° C and above 2100 m/s. The powder is fed into the flame to produce melted or semi-melted particles. The high-speed impact deposits on the surface of the substrate to form a coating. The coating prepared by the supersonic flame is stronger and denser than the coating prepared by ordinary flame spraying or plasma spraying. .
2.4 Arc Spray Technology The arc spray technology has a very high working efficiency, while the working cost is relatively low, and the substrate is less affected by heat. Therefore, the technology is widely used in anticorrosion, repair, special coating and the like. However, compared with plasma spraying and supersonic flame spraying, the arc spraying coating has lower quality, the bonding strength is about 20 MPa, and the porosity is 3% to 10%, which limits the application range of the arc spraying technology.
3 thermal spraying technology in the petrochemical industry in the oil industry, some drilling equipment parts, lifting equipment parts, pumps, ball valves, pipe joints, various pipes, etc. need corrosion resistance, wear parts can consider heat Spray technology to extend its service life. In the existing research, the inner coating technology of the pumping rod has been broken and has been promoted and applied in the Tarim Oilfield. This technology mainly solves the corrosion problem of crude oil on the sucker rod. The coating on the inner wall of the pumping rod is also a breakthrough in the spraying technology. For the wear problem of drilling tools, thermal spraying of alloys such as Ni, Cr, Si, etc. on the coupling can increase the service life of the coupling by 5 to 8 times, as well as spraying the drill bit or laser welding WC/Co alloy to improve The hardness and wear resistance of the drill bit greatly improve the efficiency of the drill bit. In addition, thermal spraying technology is also widely used in screw pumps in heavy oil mining. Due to serious scaling and wear, the pump cycle is short and the screw pump can not work normally. It is sprayed with nano-doped Al2O3+TiO2 plasma in oilfield mining test. Applied in and achieved good results. The catalytic equipment of the refinery is in a corrosive environment, and the device is plasma sprayed with cemented carbide powder to extend the service life of the equipment. By thermally spraying and sealing the aluminum alloy of the offshore drilling platform, the corrosion problem of the seawater on the platform is well solved.
Conclusion After years of development, China's thermal spraying technology has made great breakthroughs and progress, and has made a very important contribution to China's national economic growth. In the future, the development and research process of thermal spray technology should be based on the function and failure analysis of products and components, coating system design, thermal spray materials, equipment production and R&D, quality inspection and product certification, market development and marketing, and industrial Technical consulting and services, etc., and then form a complete industrial system to promote the continuous development of thermal spray technology in China.
