Mini Robot: Mobile Printer Walking on Paper

Recently, Israeli startup ZUtA Labs has developed a Mini Robot Robotic Printer that can walk on paper.

The Mini Mobile Robotic Printer is 10 centimeters high, 11.5 centimeters in diameter and weighs about 300 grams. It is lighter than most flat panels. The printer is made of polycarbonate and has a USB port for charging at the bottom of the fuselage. Its printing principle is contrary to the traditional printer. Instead of moving the print head back and forth on the printing paper, an inkjet print head is mounted on a roller, and the printer prints on the stationary paper. The Mini Mobile Robotic Printer is based on the omni-wheel system. Users can connect the printer to Windows, OSX, iOS, Android, or Windows Phone through the app, and they can accurately print back and forth on paper with any trajectory and direction.
ZUtA Labs said that the current prototype print speed of up to 1.2ppm, ink can print about 1,000 pages, the battery life is 1 hour. At present, only grayscale printing is supported, and the printing accuracy can reach 96×192 dpi. In the future, the company will increase the resolution of the printer.
At present, the Mini Mobile Robotic Printer has already entered the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and plans to raise 400,000 US dollars. The price of the printer will exceed $180, and shipments are expected to begin in early 2015.
