The Japan Rubber Association announced that its natural rubber imports in April decreased by 9.9% year-on-year to 62,399 tons, down 8.8% from the previous month. According to the data, the country’s output of cars, trucks and buses in April fell by 60% compared with the same period last year.
The most data released by the Japan Rubber Association on June 9 showed that Japan’s natural rubber imports in April decreased by 9.9% year-on-year to 62,399 tons.
This is the first time that Japanese natural rubber imports have fallen since January 2010. In April 2010, Japan imported 69,256 tons of natural rubber. Japan's natural rubber imports in April decreased by 8.8% from March.
The Japan Rubber Association did not explain why the country’s rubber imports declined in April, but the March earthquake and tsunami in Japan caused damage to the country’s manufacturing sector.
